:: Admission Criteria

PRIMARY SECTION

Class size averages 20 pupils, all of whom pursue a rigourous academic curriculum and a varied extra curricular programme, including sports, drama, art and music. Grange seeks students with a natural curriosity, willingness to learn and the potential to achieve a high academic standard. An ability to communicate comfortably and confidently with peers and adults is important in a community such as Grange.

Reception

• A parent interview followed by a school readiness assessment.

Mid-stream

• Children seeking entry into Grange into Year 2 to Year 10 are required to take an entrance exam and an interview. The required pass mark is 2.50 GPA (65% - 69%) but not lower than a 1.50 GPA (55% - 59%) in any one subject.

SECONDARY SECTION

Year 7

• Grange students in Year 6 will be promoted from Year 6 to Year 7 based upon overall GPA achieved in the March Entrance Examination. The required GPA is 2.50 (65% - 69%). The exam will be set by External Examiners and marked by External Markers as well.

Successful candidates will be notified as soon as the GPA result is available.

• Year 5 students wanting to continue into Year 7 are required to fulfil the following criteria:

o Must be 11 years old by the end of Term 1 in Year 7.
o Achieve and maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 (70% - 74%).
o Achieve a 2.75 GPA (70% - 74%) in the Entrance Examination.

It is to be noted that it is possible for the very qualified child in Key Stage 2 to be double promoted. A double promoted child cannot be promoted twice within a Key Stage. For example, if a child was promoted from Year 3 to Year 5, it is not possible for the child to be promoted from Year 5 to Year 7. A GPA of 4.00 (90% and above) is required for double promotion. Double promotion is also conditioned to availablility of space.

External Students into Year 7

• Required to take the Year 7 Entrance Examination and must achieve an overall average of 60% but not less than 50% in any one single subject.

Midstream

• Pupils wishing to enter Grange midstream are required to take the most recent exams written in the particular Year the child is seeking entrance. A minimum overall average which needs to be achieved is 60%.

Note: We do not issue anyone copies of the previous Entrance Exam papers. We do however issue students with short curriculum/topics to be tested in the exams.
