Highway
to Success
Grange
School culminates its secondary school programme
with the two years of IGCSE – International
General Certificate of Secondary School Education,
under the auspices of the University of Cambridge
Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES).
During the two IGCSE years, pupils continue with
the compulsory core subjects of English, Mathematics
and a modern foreign language, and add to these
their chosen subjects. Pupils will typically sit
for eight or nine IGCSEs. At Grange, all IGCSE
subjects are taken at extended levels.
At
this level, each pupil consolidates his/her particular
strength and achievements, pursuing personal and
individual talents in a more adult context. Pupils
are provided with a range of opportunities designed
to develop decision making skills
and managerial ability, intellectual confidence
and leadership. Our Year 10 and 11 students form
a powerful body with a crucial role in setting
standards, offering inspiration and influencing
the Grange School pupils of the future.
School prefects are elected by the school population
in the third term of Year 10 class, positions
they hold for a school year. Most importantly,
Years 10 and 11 play a unique part in the pastoral
welfare of younger boys and girls, helping them
to settle down and providing a friendly, listening
ear when needed.
At
Grange, academic standards are a priority, all
parents and pupils at Grange have high expectations
as everyone expects to go on to higher education.
During the IGCSE years, we provide ample support
to prepare our pupils for life and choices in
the universities and higher institutions of learning.
A great deal of assistance is therefore given
by our counseling department to facilitate this
process. All our pupils go on to prestigious colleges
and universities in Britain, Europe and America. |
