Awakening Independence

Grange School offers your 5 – 7 year-old a stimulating, exciting and challenging learning experience because we believe that success in all things is best achieved through enjoyment. The atmosphere in the school at this level is happy and positive, creating a very good context for learning.

Using the English National Curriculum as our framework, pupils are taught in a way that is balanced and manageable, but hard enough to challenge them. At age 7, the pupils sit for the Key Stage 1 SAT before moving on to the next stage.

Their subjects at this level includes English, where the four basic skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing are taught; Mathematics, where pupils are taught about numbers, shapes, space and measurement; Science lessons provide answers to their natural curiosity about the way the world works; Design and Technology; Information and Communication Technology; History; Geography; Art and Design; Music; Physical Education; Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship.

Playtime is great fun on the playground, under the supervision of caring and watchful teachers. The pupils are encouraged to participate in various co-curricular clubs such as Cub Scouts, Brownies, Green Fingers, Ballet and Drama.
