Secondary Library: the heartbeat of the school


The Library provides facilities that support and encourage reading for pleasure, collaborative research and private study.

The stock includes a broad range of fiction as well as non-fiction resources that support the school curriculum. The fiction section contains all literary classics as well as current popular reading for teenagers and adults.

The library is open to all students and staff to borrow books. Students visit the library with subject teachers to make use of its resources for research. The library is used by Year 11 for study periods. There is provision for printing and help with research.

  • Sora is our digital library powered by OverDrive. Students can access the digital collection using smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. With Sora, reading continues when students are off campus and during vacation.




    Library Activities


    New pupils are taught library and research skills at induction sessions. Teachers bring classes in to encourage use of a range of learning resources. Reading lists are published per year group.

    Grange Reads is a period on the school timetable when everyone drops everything to read for one hour. During the Book Week, this activity has been expanded to include Grange Reads with the Alumni and Grange Reads with Parents.     The library holds book and reading events as well as author visits that promote and enhance enjoyment of reading.
